Tablet computers powered by Google’s Android mobile operating system are making headway in the domestic market, according to analytic firm International Data Corporation (IDC), which also reported that Apple still rules the market for the second quarter of the current year.
HP Slate 7 sports a 7.0-inch HFFS (High-aperture-ratio Field Fringe Switching) LCD panel with 1024x600p display resolution and it runs on the Android mobile OS v4.1 Jelly Bean powered by ARM cortex A9 based dual-core processor with 1.6GHz CPU speed with 1GB DDR3 SDRAM and 8GB SSD memory with options of expanding up to 32GB via microSD card.
The new tablet is also reported to be hitting the UK stores in early May, but as of now, there is no word regarding HP's plans of releasing Slate 7 in India. Considering the Slate 7's $169.99 (₹9,250) price-tag, it certainly fits in to the price-sensitive Indian market which is brimming with low-cost tablets churned out by local as well as MNC manufacturers.
