The supercar project aims at raising the speed of the EJ200 jet engine, originally designed for Eurofighter-Typhoon, to 350mph before igniting a rocket motor to take it supersonic and break the current land speed of 753mph in next year and go beyond 1,000 mph by 2015, reports the BBC.
The reason for which Rolls-Royce is relaxing its robust policy of not being involved in speed record attempts is because Bloodhound is a professional organisation with good safety records and its commitment in education.
