Google's Nexus 5 finally saw its release date a few days ago and is confirmed to be a solid device. Nexus 5 is said to be a great improvement from Google's previous phones. Built by LG, the Nexus 5 features a 5.0-inch, 1080p HD screen display. There is a 2.26 GHz Snapdragon processor under the hood dressed with a matte plastic back piece. It also comes with a quad core 2300 MHz Krait 400 processor and an Adreno 330 graphics processor for your viewing pleasure. The device comes with 2GB of RAM.
The iPhone 5S screen size remains the same as the iPhone 5, with 4-inches and a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels or 326 ppi. Apple has been stubborn about keeping their standard screen size on the "small" side, compared to the Android phones. However, Apple CEO, Tim Cook explained at a conference in May that a "large screen today comes with a lot of tradeoffs." Some of those tradeoffs include more power usage, decrease in color quality, and a darker screen.
The iPhone 5S operates on the new Apple A7 processor with 64-bit architecture and M7 motion coprocessor that indicates whether one is walking, running, or driving.
According to GFXBench, the iPhone 5S and Nexus 5 are pretty much neck and neck in a recent graphics benchmark test. The Nexus 5 scored 23.1 frames per second and the iPhone 5S scored 23 fps. Both devices are among the best in speed and performance, however, one can argue that the Nexus 5 is actually faster than the iPhone 5S because it uses higher resolution display to power.
The Nexus 5 comes with an impressive 8-megapixel camera which features that allow for better picture quality in low-light situations and fast motion images.
The camera for the iPhone 5S is also at 8 megapixels with dual LED and 1920x1080 (1080 HD, 30 fps) video recording capabilities.
The Nexus 5 price starts at $350 for 16GB without a contract, which is extremely cheap compared to other off-contract smartphones. Nexus 5 is also the first of the Nexus phones to be available on AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile.
Nexus 5 is stepping up to widen its audience and make Android more available around the world. Android 4.4 KitKat is also slated to visit many devices to improve their Android experience. Sundar Pichai, who is in charge of Google's Android department, says that the company's goal is to have one billion Android users by 2014. Therefore, they are tapping into various markets to increase sells.
So what do you think? Will you buy a Nexus 5?
