Sony's head of architect for the Playstation 4, Mark Cerny, recently announced that the company tested controllers that would be able to judge a person's stress level depending on the amount of sweat on their hands.
"We had a long research project where we looked at pretty much any idea we could think of," Cerny said, according to NBC News. "Would it help to measure the galvanic response of the skin? We tried out a tremendous number of things - and then we went to the game teams to ask them what they thought they could use from the controller."
The controller, which was part of DualShock controller series that was released by Sony in 1997, was reportedly most compatible with first-person shooters, explaining, "historically we [Sony] have heard many times that our controllers have not been ideal for first-person shooters, so we wanted to make sure we had something that would be much better for that genre."
Sony certainly isn't the first company to experiment with interactive controllers.
Game developer, Value, researched variety of different interactive controllers that would be compatible with their popular zombie game, "Left 4 Dead," which would involve a game response depending on how much the player was sweating.
It is unclear if Sony will release the controller in the future.
