Hewlett-Packard which announced the launch of the Slate 7 tablet that runs the Android operating system in the beginning of this year, appears to be working on an Android smartphone according to a new rumour.
A render of HP's supposedly first Android smartphone, Brave 657A, has leaked online.
The image has been posted by Phonearena.com and the design of the device in the image is similar to that of the iPhone with the camera housed on top left of the back panel along with an LED flash. The front panel of the alleged HP smartphone is dominated by the display with three capacitive touch keys below the screen.
However, another website, has posted a response from HP that rules out the possibility of the rendered smartphone running Android being an HP device. It says, "This is not an HP phone. The photo is a fabrication and is not a photo of anything HP has in the works. Someone is making stuff up."
Though, HP has denied working on any Android smartphone, the rumour mill just doesn't seem to stop as Phonearena has posted another screenshot listing the HP smartphone in An Tu Tu benchmark. The benchmark listing reveals some of the specifications of the alleged HP smartphone including a 4.5-inch display with a resolution of 900x1600 pixels. The device is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU clocked at 2.0GHz with Adreno 330 GPU and come with 2GB of RAM. The benchmark screenshot further claims that the HP Brave 657A runs Android 4.2. It sports a 14.5-megapixel rear camera and 5.0-megapixel front camera, as per the screenshot.
