2014 Honda Fit aka Jazz to go on sale in Japan in Sep 2013

The next gen 2014 Honda Fit aka Jazz has been in news ever since some brochure scans of the car surfaced on the cyber space some days ago. Now, Honda has made an official statement about the commencement of new Fit’s sales and the car would go on sale in Japan in September this year.

The car will be produced at Honda’s new plant in Yorii, Japan and the manufacturer says that the new plant will manufacture “World’s Eco-Friendliest products”. This is an indicator enough of the fact that the car’s claimed FE of 36kmpl could be a reality. The new plant has an annual production capacity of 250,000 units per annum.
Now that the new Jazz is close to entering mass production in Japan, it is only a matter of time before the car reaches our shores. Our guess is that the car could come to in early 2014 and a 2014 Delhi Auto Expo launch is something that doesn’t seem too unlikely. The new Jazz will be sold in India in both petrol and diesel variants and it is a well known fact that the diesel variants will be powered by the same 1.5 litre iDTEC diesel engine that powers the Amaze.
The new Honda Jazz, armed with a powerful diesel motor and the brand image that Honda enjoys in India, could make life a lot tougher for well established premium B segment contenders such as the Maruti Swift, Hyundai i20 and the Volkswagen Polo. The next gen Jazz, in all likelihood, will also be more spacious and feature-laden than the other three cars that we have mentioned here.
It seems like Honda has a winner in its hands. Let us just hope that the car gets a competitive price tag when it enters our car market.
